History was made on Tuesday night as the Brookwood Middle School Falcons punched their ticket to the state baseball semifinals with a thrilling 7–6 comeback victory over the Millstone Tigers.
What began as a tense and uncertain game quickly turned into a showcase of grit, heart, and Falcon pride.
Down 6–3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Falcons rallied behind clutch performances from senior captain and pitcher Elijah Torres, and junior slugger Nate Daniels. Daniels’ two-run triple tied the game, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Then, with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, freshman sensation Luis Romero hit a clean single up the middle to drive in the game-winning run.
“I just wanted to keep it simple,” Romero said. “This team has trusted me all season, and I wanted to deliver for them.”
The Falcons’ defense held strong under pressure, with a key double play in the fifth inning and a diving catch by center fielder Jasmine Reed that saved two runs.
Head Coach Mark Simmons praised the team’s perseverance. “They didn’t quit. This group fights for every pitch, every inning. We talk about what it means to be a Falcon—resilient, focused, fearless—and tonight, they lived it.”
With the win, Brookwood advances to the semifinals for the first time since 2016. They’ll take on the Ridgeview Panthers this Saturday at 4 PM at the district stadium.
The entire school is buzzing with excitement, and the Brookwood Falcon spirit has never been higher.
