Abigail Chase wins District Spelling Bee

On September 20, 2024 in the Cage Auditorium, 14-year-old Abigail Chase upheld her title of State Spelling Bee Champion for the 3rd year in a row.

Competing against 20 neighboring School districts in the D.C. area, Chase managed to defeat front runners throughout the region, who are all word geniuses in their own rights.

Chase's winning word? Psammophile - that is, a plant or animal that thrives in a sandy environment. Try to get that one right in Wordle!

One thing's for certain - Chase's ability to dry up the competition is uncanny. Congratulations Abigail - we are so proud of you!
