As the art teacher at Chipinque Middle School, I often get asked about the "rules" of art. My answer is always the same: in art, the most important rule is to express yourself!

Self-expression is the heart of creativity. It's about letting your unique thoughts, feelings, and perspectives shine through in your work. Whether a student is painting a vibrant landscape or sculpting a fantastical creature, the act of bringing their inner world to life on paper or in clay is incredibly powerful.

Here at Chipinque, we encourage every student to embrace their individuality and use art as a language to communicate who they are. There's no "right" or "wrong" way to create, only your way. When students feel safe and encouraged to express themselves freely, they not only create more authentic and compelling art, but they also build confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

So, to all my budding artists at Chipinque Middle School, keep exploring, keep experimenting, and most importantly, keep expressing the amazing, unique individual that you are!
